Boston College is known for its passionate sports fans, and being heard over the roar of the enthusiastic crowds at Boston College's Alumni Stadium is no mean feat. The 45,000-seat stadium recently completed a seven-month sound system renovation that included a new, state-of-the-art distributed audio system to get the announcements everywhere they need to be.Eagle in Atlanta probably would like to be able to hear the games from 1000+ miles away. No word on whether or not the new system is louder than the old one... or just better sound quality. I can hear some of the noise from games from 1.0 miles away, particularly in the evening air.

I can't wait to hear it at the Sept. 1 home opener. I hope the volume is turned up to 10 so it can heard in the people's republic of cambridge.

You do realize that Boston College has been around since 1863, well before you moved to Brighton - right? If you do not want to live next to a university that competes in major college athletics then move!!
1863? In the South End, I believe. Moved to current digs circa 1913. If "we bought land here first" is the criterion, then my house vastly predates BC moving into the neighborhood. But, of course, yours is not the appropriate criterion to use... I'm sure I don't have to tell you that.
Why not just relax and enjoy it, rather than trying to fight it?? Football games are fun.
I do not think who was there first is the criteria. However, I do think that there are other places to live and that is a factor. BC fans should treat the residents better, but BC does a good job and at times I think considers the residents over the students. Remember, your house would not be worth as much if institutions like BC (Harvard, Wellesley, MIT, Brandeis) were not in the area. Become a fan and go to the game and then the sound will not be an issue....

Just an FYI - The sound system was installed over a year ago. Last year's Clemson home opener was it's first game. The publicity machine is just a little late in putting out the info. Maybe the powers that be didn't want the Brighton folks to know that the system was new because they would instinctively believe that new means loud and would complain instantly. Since you've been living with the system for a year and obviously didn't know, you have nothing to complain about.
Sounds like many regular attendees of BC football games were likewise unaware (comments and links above).
