Halloween Prize for Best Storefront

Brighton Center's business trick-or-treat brought out hundreds of kids and their parents Friday afternoon.

Hands-down prize for Best Storefront With a Halloween Theme -- in the Locally-Grown Skeleton category -- goes to Johnny D's Fruit and Produce. He was also handing out lots of candied apples, as usual -- an amazing treat for the kids.

The big pumpkin on the left is Johnny's annual guess the weight of the pumpkin contest. I predict 367 pounds.

Scare Your Way from the Police Station to Oak Square

The 13th annual Brighton Business Trick-Or-Treat will take place Friday afternoon, between the Allston-Brighton D-14 Police Station and the YMCA in Oak Square.

Participating businesses display a sign in their doorway/windows, "Welcome Trick or Treaters!"

Be warned: if you visit all the businesses, your children will get so much candy that you'll spend your next three paychecks on dentistry work.

Johnny D's, a produce seller at 381 Washington Street [right], is the perennial, odds-on favorite for best treat.

Halloween Trick-or-Treating in Brighton Center

This event is a great one that I've participated in with the little one for a few years. In fact, she prefers this trick-or-treating over going up to houses... probably because she ends up with more loot per minute of activity (i.e., no porch steps to go up and down). On Wednesday afternoon, beware of (giggling) green dragons with pink bows!
