The Boston Herald made some news last month (or so) by publishing the State of Massachusetts's employee payroll in a searchable database.
They just expanded their database to include the payroll of employees of the City of Boston. A few departments and/or agencies are still missing, but it's a great step forward in making public information available easily to the public.

How could the Reports of the Boston Finance Commission be made available on the web?... the FinCom deflects requests for their reports. The online database lists a chairman and confidential secretary for the Finance Commission.
