Carpenters Council Considering Move Out of Market Street Training Center

The New England Regional Council of Carpenters has just closed on a $5.8 million purchase of property in Dorchester at 750 Dorchester Avenue, which includes 42,000 square feet of office space, according to GlobeSt.com.

The Council of Carpenters currently has its headquarters at rented office space on Summer Street in South Boston, and also owns a training center at 371-385 Market Street in Brighton Center.  They would move both the headquarters and the training facility to the newly-purchased Dorchester site, according to GlobeSt.com.
The association hopes to expand the [new] property’s footprint, and is in the process of identifying an architect to develop a design. “It’s going to take awhile,” he says of opening the new facility, pledging to first meet with city officials and community members to hammer out the details.
The Brighton Center site is located next door to the Rite Aid Pharmacy which had its roof collapse in December.  The Rite Aid has been closed ever since, with structural-support scaffolding installed to hold up the walls against further collapse.

The training center property is currently assessed at a value of approximately $2 million.
